Behavioural training in Sussex- One to One training in your home -
Getting to the root cause of any behavioural problem is a major step in changing bad
behaviour. Sometimes, for no apparent reason your dogs behaviour will change and they may start to exhibit behaviour which you find unwanted or confusing. This may show itself as something simple like jumping up or toileting in the home to something more serious like increased dominance or aggression. In some cases this could be attributed to health issues but is more likely to be due to changes in your day to day routine which can have a profound effect on your dog.
I am a Sussex based dog behaviourist and dog trainer offering advice and instruction for behavioural problems, gundog work and dog training for your puppies and dogs.
Prior to visiting you I will send out a behavioural questionnaire. This will allow me to gain some insight into the problem before I visit and to get a background of when any problems started and in some cases what triggers the bad or unwanted behaviour.
Some behaviour can be simple to overcome, in a number of cases it is about giving your dog clear boundaries and being consistent. It may be you want to be able to go for relaxing walks without being pulled in every direction or to be confident that you won’t be embarrassed by your dogs behaviour when friends visit. Working together we can ensure that this happens with the result that both you and your dog will enjoy each others company more and be happier as a result.
Some behaviour problems are more serious and if allowed to continue often get worse. I am committed to working with you to solve these problems. I do not use or advocate any training methods that are cruel or detrimental to your dogs well being.
Experience has shown that to gain the most from the training it is better to offer an initial consultation lasting approximately 90 minutes and then a follow-up telephone session approximately a week later. This will do two things, firstly you will not feel overwhelmed by the information you have been given and secondly it will allow you the time to practise the techniques you have been shown.
I would recommend that all family members be present during the initial consultation as this will allow me to make a more comprehensive assessment. To support your training, bespoke guidance notes will be provided after the initial session. Personal telephone and email support is also available as part of my service
Subsequent visits can of course be arranged should they be required.
